YEAH! and the book covers a timespan even farther back than that—he goes on a pretty detailed ramble on all of the tech that caused the US's transition from "tiny local grocers" to "massive supermarkets," and while the obvious one is of course "the post WW2-boom in car usage," he gets down into, like, "the year the first automated bottle-making machine was created was HUGE" and i'm like joe please talk all day this is fascinating, lol
